Two Migraine Myths Keeping You in Pain!. Myth: Pain killers treat migraines. Painkillers do not affect the chemical process occurring in your brain which goes on to affect your whole body, they simply later your perception of pain. Medication-overuse is a very common problem for headache suffers. Taking pain relievers and other medications on a regular basis will cause your body to become dependent on these medications. When an expected dose is missed, a headache will develop.Seeking qualified medical help earlier in the course of your condition rather than later is the best course of action for the migraine sufferer. Self-treating with over the counter pain medications does nothing to relieve the cause of your headache and instead works against you by building up your tolerance and dependence on pain killers. Your body’s physical dependence on pain killers will cause you to develop headaches when you do not take your pills as usual. These types of headaches are known as rebound headaches. ;Rebound Headaches A good indication that you are experiencing a rebound headache includes the following: * Regular consumption of any over-the-counter or prescription pain killer, Ergot, Triptan, tranquilizer, antihistamines, sleeping pills and caffeine including but not limited to: Advil, Tylenol, Aleve, Excedrin, Aspirin, codeine, hydrocodone, morphine, methadone, DHE, Migranal, butalbital, diazepam, lorazepam, Sudafed, Benadryl and any mixed cold medicines. * An increase in headache frequency.* Headaches that occur at the same time every day. This includes headaches you wake up with.* A reduction in pain relief despite taking more medicine. Headaches that come on after a predictable delay from your last dose of medicine.The key point to remember with rebound headaches is this – you can expect increased headache frequency and decreased pain relief from pain relievers as your body will develop tolerance. As you can see,; this is not a plan with long term viability. If you believe you are being affected by rebound headaches, schedule a visit to discuss this problem with your doctor, and try to discontinue use of over-the-counter pain medications as soon as possible if you have been self medicating. Remember, discontinuing prescribed or prescription medication should always be discussed with one’s doctor. Why is this? Even if you believe it is safe to stop taking a certain medicine your doctor may feel differently. Also keep in mind that certain drug dependencies can carry severe withdrawal symptoms if discontinued all at once (such as butalbital, which can cause seizures.) Your doctor may want to treat your drug withdrawal gradually or in a controlled environment for your own safety.

Did you know that tension headaches are the most common type of<br /> headaches? It is estimated that over one’s lifetime anywhere from 30 to 78% of people will experience this type of headache. Interestingly enough, tension headache are also the least studied. Perhaps this is due to earlier beliefs that these headaches were brought on by psychological conditions such as stress and anxiety. Only now is it becoming clear that tension headaches are neurological in nature.</p> <p>Infrequent Episodic Tension-Type Headache<br /> This is what the average person thinks of when they think “headache.” Infrequent Episodic Tension Type headaches can last from minutes to days, with pain on both sides of the head. The sensation of pain is usually described as a “tight band” or “pressing” in sensation. Pain levels are usually mild to moderate and the pain is not made worse by regular physical activity like walking or climbing stairs. Nausea is not experienced but sensitivity to light or sound is not uncommon.<br /> Does this sound like you? If so ask yourself:<br /> Do I have these headaches less than once per month?<br /> Do my headaches last 30 min to 7 days?<br /> Do I experience at least two of the following: Do I feel the pain on two sides of my head? Is it a tight pressing pain and not a pulsating sensation? Is my pain mild to moderate? Meaning, can you go about daily tasks if you need to? Is my pain unaffected by physical activity? Do I have nausea or vomiting? I am sensitive to light or sound but not both.<br /> I know this condition cannot be attributed to other factors.<br /> If your answer to each point is yes, then you are likely experiencing Infrequent Episodic Tension-Type Headache. This type of headache is also frequently accompanied by the feeling of bruised or tender skin on the head, face or neck.

Migraine is not just another word for “severe headache.” Instead<br /> “migraine” refers to a neurological condition where neurons in the brain react to certain stimuli in an excitable and then inflammatory way. The brain’s inflammatory reaction then causes a cascade of symptoms, of which headache is only one among many. A migraine attack has four stages, prodome, aura, headache, and postdrome. Here is a brief summary of each stage:</p> <p>Prodrome Phase – This is the pre-migraine stage. The pre-migraine stage can last for a few hours up to a few days. Common early warning symptoms include fatigue, difficulty concentrating, stiff neck, sensitivity to light or sound, nausea, and blurred vision. </p> <p>Aura Phase – “Aura” is simply the term usedto refer to a whole set of neurological symptoms (which are described in detail below under “Migraine with Aura”) that precede the onset of a migraine headache and disappear once it develops. To be defined strictly as “aura” each symptom must develop over five to twenty minutes and last for no more than sixty minutes. The aura stage is not experienced by every person or even every time.</p> <p>Headache Phase – This is the stage most people are familiar with – the headache. Pain can last anywhere from hours to days. Usually the pain is single sided, throbbing in sensation, and moderate to severe in pain level. It is useful to know that not every person develops the headache phase.</p> <p>Postdrome Phase – This is the post migraine phase. Some people report feelings of being “hung-over” or severely drained. These feelings can last from a few hours to a few days.</p> <p>While there are multiple types of migraines, migraines are usually discussed as two main types – those with aura and those without.

Step 7: Target Keywords

Don’t make the mistake of targeting all of your search terms around “Real Headache Help” – instead, you want to select keywords that will help you reach a broader audience.
